October 2017 sees Ferio join forces with Kirker Holidays and perform on a ten night cruise on the Black Watch, sailing from Rosyth sailing to Copenhagen, Helsinki, St Petersburg and Tallinn. The music programme will also feature performed by Joshua Ellicott, tenor, Monika-Evelin Liiv, mezzo soprano, Paul Janes, piano and The Carducci Quartet.
Departing from Rosyth, the Black Watch will sail down the Firth of Forth into the North Sea. After a day of talks and music at sea she will arrive in Copenhagen, Denmark’s intimate but vibrant capital with a host of cultural attractions including the glittering Rosenborg Palace, the matchless collection of Danish art at the National Gallery of Denmark and the famous Tivoli Gardens. After another day at sea during which we will enjoy interviews with the musicians, we visit three cities on consecutive days. First is Helsinki where we will be offering a special excursion focussing on Finland’s national hero, Jean Sibelius. Next is the majestic city of St Petersburg where you can choose between visiting the city’s glittering palaces and museums or places associated with the great composers and writers who lived here. In Tallinn, we will discover mediaeval architecture before enjoying a concert by principal singers from the Estonian National Opera. Later in the cruise there will be time in Kiel before passing through the famous canal which links the Baltic to the North Sea before we arrive back in Rosyth.
